Developing a Landmark: Powering Miami Freedom Park Stadium

At Miller Electric Company, the projects we build are more than structures. They become part of the communities they serve. The Miami Freedom Park Stadium is a clear example of that impact; a place designed not just for soccer, but for connection, entertainment, and long term growth in South Florida.
As the future home for a 26,000 seat professional soccer stadium, this development will bring fans, families, and visitors together for major sporting events while also serving as a central hub within a much larger mixed use destination. With plans for public parks, retail, hospitality, and community spaces, Miami Freedom Park represents a new chapter for the area, transforming what was once a golf course into a vibrant and accessible environment for the city.
Miller Electric is proud to play a key role in making that vision a reality.
A PROJECT OF SCALE AND COMPLEXITY
Located in Miami, Florida, the Miami Freedom Park Stadium spans more than 630,000 square feet and was delivered on a highly accelerated 14 month schedule. As the first phase of a multi year development, the stadium sets the foundation for everything that will follow, from parking and infrastructure to future commercial and recreational spaces.
Our scope included comprehensive electrical infrastructure to support every aspect of stadium operations. This ranged from power distribution and low voltage pathways to advanced lighting systems, lightning protection, and electrical systems for locker rooms, concourses, retail spaces, and premium hospitality areas.
The stadium experience itself is driven by technology and design. With over 100 different types of specialty lighting, including color changing and architectural fixtures, the space is built to create an immersive environment for events. Integrated scoreboards, ribbon boards, and audio visual systems further enhance the fan experience while also supporting safety through fully coordinated fire alarm and notification systems.
BUILDING FOR EXPERIENCE AND COMMUNITY IMPACT
While the scope of the project is significant, the true value lies in how the space will be used. On match days, the stadium will host thousands of fans, creating an energetic and unified atmosphere for the local soccer community. Beyond sports, the venue is positioned to host large scale events, gatherings, and entertainment experiences that bring people together from across the region.
As additional phases of the development are completed, the surrounding area will continue to evolve into a destination for everyday use. Parks, retail spaces, restaurants, and entertainment venues will create a sense of place that extends well beyond the stadium itself. The electrical infrastructure installed today is designed to support that long term vision, ensuring the site remains adaptable and scalable as it grows.
INNOVATION THROUGH EXECUTION
Delivering a project of this size and complexity within a tight timeframe required a focus on efficiency, planning, and innovation. Prefabrication played a major role, with key components such as underground systems, electrical rooms, and overhead assemblies built offsite to accelerate installation.
Standardized methods, including multi circuit homeruns and strategic use of cable tray systems, allowed the team to streamline installation while maintaining high quality standards. One notable approach involved assembling sections of the catwalk, including lighting and cable tray, at ground level before hoisting into place. This reduced the amount of work performed at elevation and improved both safety and productivity.
Technology on the jobsite also supported real time execution. Smart gang boxes equipped with monitors and printing capabilities gave field leaders immediate access to drawings and updates, improving communication, coordination, and decision making across the project.

OVERCOMING CHALLENGES
The project presented a number of challenges that required adaptability and strong coordination across teams. Structural delays in key areas of the stadium compressed portions of the schedule, requiring rapid increases in manpower and careful planning to maintain progress.
The size of the site introduced logistical complexities, from material movement to workforce coordination, while early project phases were impacted by weather related disruptions. Despite these challenges, the team remained focused on maintaining schedule and delivering quality work at every stage.
EXTENSIVE COLLABORATION
Close collaboration with the project owner and partners was critical throughout the project lifecycle. Miller Electric worked directly with stakeholders to evaluate and refine lighting packages, identifying opportunities to simplify designs, reduce costs, and maintain performance.
This value engineering process ensured that the project aligned with both budget and schedule goals while still delivering a high quality result. Continuous coordination with the general contractor, trade partners, and engineers allowed the team to adapt to design updates and evolving project requirements.
POWERING A BROADER VISION
Miami Freedom Park is more than a standalone project. It is the first phase of a long term development that will transform the surrounding area into a vibrant destination. Future phases will include a hotel, office space, retail, entertainment venues, and public parks.
The electrical infrastructure installed as part of this project was designed with this broader vision in mind. Systems were built to support not only current stadium operations but also the future expansion of the site.
This forward thinking approach ensures that the project remains scalable, efficient, and adaptable as new phases of development are introduced.

DELIVERING IMPACT
The Miami Freedom Park Stadium is more than a construction project. It is an investment in the future of the community. From the excitement of match day to the everyday use of surrounding public spaces, the impact of this development will be felt across Miami for years to come.
For Miller Electric, being part of this project reflects our commitment to delivering work that goes beyond infrastructure. It is about enabling experiences, supporting communities, and building spaces that bring people together.
CONCLUSION
At Miller Electric, every project is an opportunity to create something meaningful. The Miami Freedom Park Stadium represents the intersection of technical excellence, collaboration, and community impact.
By combining innovative construction methods with a clear focus on the end user experience, our team helped deliver a venue that will serve as a cornerstone for future growth in South Florida.
