Honoring a Legacy: Celebrating the Retirement of Daniel A. Brown

After more than two decades of service, leadership, and quiet example, we are proud to announce the retirement of Daniel A. Brown, former Chairman of the Board of Miller Electric Company. While Daniel’s retirement marks the close of a remarkable chapter in our company’s history, his influence, values, and legacy will remain deeply woven into the fabric of who we are.
Daniel’s journey with Miller Electric is not just a professional story; it is a family story, a values-driven story, and a reflection of a life lived with humility, purpose, and care for others.

Rooted in Family, Values, and Legacy
As a third-generation leader of Miller Electric, Daniel followed in the footsteps of his grandfather, Buck Autrey, the pillar upon whom this company was built. Buck’s vision, integrity, and commitment to people formed the foundation of Miller Electric, and Daniel carried that legacy forward with deep reverence and responsibility.
Those who know Daniel understand how seriously he takes that inheritance, not as a title, but as a duty. Every decision he made was grounded in preserving the culture and values that began generations ago, while thoughtfully guiding the company into the future.
Family has always been central to Daniel’s life. His love for his wife, Jacqueline, and their children is evident in the way he speaks about them and prioritizes them. As he steps into retirement, he does so with excitement for more time devoted to family, faith, and the quieter moments that matter most to him.
From the Field to the Boardroom
A Jacksonville native and graduate of The Bolles School, Daniel began his career at Miller Electric in 1999 as an Electrician’s Helper while attending the University of North Florida, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Building Construction.
From the very beginning, his career was marked by intention and work ethic. After graduation, Daniel gained invaluable experience as a Project Manager with J.H. Haynes Electric in Mississippi, contributing to large-scale projects in the hotel and casino industry and supporting disaster recovery efforts following Hurricane Katrina.
He returned to Miller Electric in 2006, immediately stepping into complex, high-profile work, including what was then the largest project in company history - a major data center in Richmond, Virginia. Over the years, Daniel managed a wide range of projects across critical facilities, government buildings, data centers, hospitality, and religious institutions. He ultimately held electrical contractor and/or master electrician licenses in more than twenty states, an achievement that reflects both his technical expertise and his commitment to excellence.

Leading with Integrity and Purpose
In 2012, Daniel and his brother and the company’s CEO Henry Brown purchased Miller Electric from prior generations, ushering in a transformative era for the company. Daniel went on to serve as Vice President, Chief Operating Officer, and ultimately Chairman of the Board.
Throughout every role, Daniel was a steadfast champion of Miller Electric’s Core Values. His industry-leading expertise in safety, and his deep knowledge of the NEC and NFPA 70E helped reshape not only our company, but policies across the industry. His unwavering commitment to protecting people led some of the largest organizations in the world to rethink and change how energized work is performed.
When Miller Electric entered its next chapter with the sale to EMCOR in 2025, Daniel remained focused on honoring the company’s legacy, protecting its people, and ensuring a future built on shared values.
A Quiet Leader with a Surprising Sense of Humor
Daniel is known to be thoughtful, reserved, and deeply introspective. He is not one to seek attention. But those fortunate enough to know him well, know a different side, one defined by gentleness, loyalty, generosity, and an unexpectedly sharp sense of humor that often catches people delightfully off guard.
He has always led by example, preferring substance over spotlight, listening more than speaking, and relationships over recognition. To colleagues and friends, Daniel is a steady presence, a trusted confidant, and a genuinely kind human being.
Faith, Service, and Community
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Daniel has long been committed to serving his community. He is active in philanthropic efforts throughout Northeast Florida, including involvement with United Way of Northeast Florida, ACE Mentoring, and numerous Catholic-led organizations both locally and globally. He is an active parishioner at San Juan Del Rio Catholic Church and a Third Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus.
Just a few weeks ago, Daniel was honored at the American Values Dinner hosted by the Boy Scouts of America, recognizing his service to the North Florida Council and his commitment to the community; a fitting tribute as he prepares for retirement.

The Next Chapter: Family, Faith, and Fishing
Those who know Daniel know of his deep, perhaps very deep, love for fishing. Retirement opens the door for more time on the water, along with more moments spent with family, in reflection, and in faith.
While he may be retiring from day-to-day leadership, Daniel’s influence will endure, in our culture, our values, and the many lives he has impacted over the years.
With Gratitude and Congratulations
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Daniel for his 20 years of distinguished service and leadership. Miller Electric is stronger because of him, and we are profoundly grateful for what he has given to this company, our people, and our community.
Please join us in congratulating Daniel A. Brown and wishing him all the very best in this wellearned next chapter.
“I am very proud of what we have accomplished together, and I am excited that Daniel will have the freedom to pursue his passions around family, faith, and fishing.” - Henry Brown, CEO of Miller Electric Company
