Community, friendly competition, and a commitment to giving back took center stage at Miller Electric Company’s annual Charity Cornhole Tournament in Nashville, where employees, clients, vendors, and industry partners came together to support an important local cause. This year’s tournament raised $10,000 for Cumberland River Compact, a Nashville-based nonprofit dedicated to reducing pollution, improving water quality, and restoring the health of the Cumberland River and its surrounding ecosystems.

A Tradition of Giving Back

While this year’s fundraising efforts benefited the Cumberland River Compact, Miller Electric’s annual Charity Cornhole Tournament is designed to support a variety of local nonprofits. Each year, the winning team selects the organization that will receive the event’s proceeds from a list of vetted local charities. This year’s options also included Corner to Corner, Nashville Rescue Mission, Operation Stand Down Tennessee, Rebuilding Together Nashville, Recovery Community, Second Harvest Food Bank, United Way of Greater Nashville, and Vanderbilt Monroe Carell Children’s Hospital. The tournament reflects Miller Electric’s ongoing commitment to investing in the communities where its employees live and work while raising awareness for organizations making a meaningful difference across Middle Tennessee. 

This year’s event welcomed approximately 130 attendees, including Miller Electric employees from both the field and office, as well as clients, vendors, subcontractors, and industry partners. More than just a fundraiser, the tournament serves as an opportunity to strengthen relationships throughout Nashville’s electrical and construction community. Many participants represent organizations that work alongside Miller Electric on projects across the region, and bringing them together in a fun, collaborative environment helps foster a stronger sense of community within the industry. 

The competition itself provided plenty of excitement, with 52 teams competing over the course of just three hours. Organizers managed a packed tournament bracket alongside a raffle, creating a fast-paced afternoon filled with friendly rivalry and fundraising. As the field narrowed, the competition intensified. As one organizer noted, “The final match is always pretty tense. It turns out some people get pretty serious about cornhole.” Behind the scenes, volunteers worked tirelessly to keep the event running smoothly, coordinating tournament play, managing raffle activities, and ensuring guests had a great experience.

The tournament ultimately generated a $10,000 donation for the Cumberland River Compact, helping support the organization’s mission to improve water quality, reduce pollution, and restore habitats throughout the Cumberland River watershed. Through this contribution, Miller Electric and its partners are helping advance environmental stewardship efforts that will benefit both the river and the surrounding communities for years to come.

By bringing together employees, customers, suppliers, subcontractors, and friends, Miller Electric continues to demonstrate that some of the most meaningful connections are built not only on job sites, but also through shared efforts to give back. This year, those efforts resulted in a $10,000 investment in the future of the Cumberland River and the communities it supports.
