At Miller Electric, we’re thankful to support the U.S. Navy’s mission through our work on the Magnetic Silencing Facility (MSF) Repairs project at Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, Georgia. This critical upgrade helps ensure the continued operation of a specialized facility that plays an important role in maintaining the stealth and survivability of the Navy’s submarine fleet.

The prime contract was awarded to RQ Construction, LLC on August 22, 2024, and we joined the project team as the electrical subcontractor on December 10, 2024. Led by Senior Project Manager Jimmy Knowles, Assistant Project Manager Jeremy MacDonald and General Foreman Matt Pickering, our team worked closely with RQ Construction to deliver electrical improvements that support the facility’s long-term operational reliability.

This project represents another successful collaboration between our team and RQ Construction at NSB Kings Bay. Together, we’ve partnered on several important projects across the installation, including the P684 Trident Refit Facility Expansion and the Trident Training Facility Recapitalization project. These ongoing efforts reflect a shared commitment to providing the infrastructure necessary to support the Navy’s mission.

With decades of experience working in secure and operational military environments, we understand the unique challenges that come with modernizing critical facilities while maintaining operational continuity. That expertise proved invaluable throughout this project.

Since its commissioning in 1993, the Magnetic Silencing Facility has served as a vital asset to the Navy’s submarine force. The facility measures, calibrates, treats, and manages submarine magnetic signatures, helping preserve the stealth capabilities essential to mission success. Its operation depends on a sophisticated network of electromagnetic field generation equipment, underwater sensor arrays, power distribution systems, and advanced controls.

Our scope of work focused on the installation, integration, and modernization of key electrical systems that support these highly specialized operations. Through careful planning, technical expertise, and close coordination with project stakeholders, we helped enhance the facility’s infrastructure while maintaining the reliability required for uninterrupted mission support.

The project achieved substantial completion in May, ensuring the facility remains positioned to support current and future operational requirements. We’re honored to contribute to infrastructure that helps strengthen national defense and enables the Navy to carry out its mission with confidence.

As we continue to partner with organizations like RQ Construction and the U.S. Navy, we remain committed to delivering safe, high-quality electrical solutions that support mission readiness and long-term success.
